What is Float Therapy?
Float therapy is a way of achieving deep relaxation by spending an hour or more lying quietly in darkness, suspended in a warm solution of Epsom salt. Float tanks are also known as isolation tanks or sensory deprivation tanks.
Float therapy creates an environment conducive for deep relaxation.
Our brains are constantly bombarded with external stimulation as well as the ever present background ‘noises’ & distractions that are always present.
When you floating in a tank, your senses are released from all these distractions, your body is weightless & you become a mind floating in space.
The water temperature is close to natural body temperature and its quite normal to lose the sensation of where your body ends and the water begins.
This can enable your body & mind to reach deep levels of relaxation/meditation that would normally take years of practice to achieve. The tank creates an environment where you can achieve pure sensory relaxation with no external distraction.
While weightlessness is achieved through the careful combination of special salts with filtered sterile water, there are further benefits from the epsom salts which also create an ideal environment for injury recovery as well as providing relief from muscular pain & tension.
Free from external stimulation, your body can achieve an even more beneficial state of deep relaxation than from natural sleep. Even when you sleep –your mind receives signals from those parts of your body that touch the bed & covers, skin temperature, sounds, and gravity. Instead of these distractions it can get back to focusing on repairing and rejuvenating your mind and body.
